Spark Your Creativity at the NJEA Convention

There are many programs, activities, and resources at the NJEA Convention. Check out this video of one innovative program.

NJEA enjoys promoting our members’ and our students’ creativity. You can visit the art gallery displaying student art at the Convention.

At the same time, you can meet with NJEA members who have published books in Author’s Alley.

You may also want to get a quick health screening at the Deborah Health Fair.

And Classroom Close-up, NJ, an Emmy-winning TV show that highlights innovative projects in NJ’s public schools, has a booth and staff available to help spark your own creativity.

7 Areas Not to be Missed on the Convention Floor

Wear your most comfortable walking shoes so you’ll be ready to explore the massive exhibit floor at the NJEA Convention. You’ll find plenty of helpful exhibits and classroom materials, learn about resources available to educators, visit with representatives from colleges and universities, and much more.

But here are 7 areas on the exhibit floor that are not to be missed!

1. New Member Center

Are you newly employed or attending your first NJEA Convention? Are you a Student NJEA member? If you answered yes to either of these questions, visit the New Member Welcome Center. There, you can learn secrets about the convention that veteran members have known for years – especially where to find the best freebies. New members can enjoy a chance to relax, review their convention programs, learn the Convention Center layout, and plan how to get the most out of the two days. The New Member Lounge is open all day, both days of the convention.

2. Deborah Health Fair

Visit this area of the exhibit floor and have a blood pressure check, pulmonary test, cholesterol screening, and a body fat analysis. Lots of information will also be available.

3. Authors’ Alley

Meet NJEA member-authors as they share advice on how to publish your ideas. You can purchase copies of their books and some authors are available for book signings.

4. Art Gallery

The Art Educators of New Jersey have sponosored the Art Gallery as a venue to display students’ creative works. Look for the gallery near the Great Ideas Forum.

5. NJEA Services Center

The NJEA Service Center is your opportunity to meet informally with members of various NJEA Committees, affiliated groups, and NJEA staff. Learn about the resources that are available to NJEA members through NJEA’s Government Relations, UniServ, Professional Development, Communications, and Research divisions.

Make a connection with one or more of the many organizations affiliated with NJEA that represent your academic and professional interests, share your ideas with representatives from NJEA’s committees, and gather some great giveaways.

6. High Tech Hall

There are presentations on the hour in High Tech Hall in Verizon’s Thinkfinity Classroom, the DELL Connected Classroom, and the Teacher-to-Teacher Learning Lab. There are more informal opportunities to meet with NJEA members using technology in their everyday instruction.

7. Sponsored Vendors

Make sure to stop and see the NJEA Member Benefits’ sponsored vendors on the Exhibit Floor. You’ll find them in the 1200 Aisle just beyond “College Row.”

Make sure to stop by Booth 1241 in the sponsored vendors’ aisle and talk to the folks at 21st Century Insurance. They’ll tell you how you can request a quote that will also register you for a chance to win their grand prize of $10,000 or the use of a 2012 Chevrolet Volt for three years!
